Evangelist Winifred W. Morris is the wife of Bishop Ernest C. Morris, Sr., the Founding and Senior Pastor of the landmark Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ in Philadelphia and the Prelate of the KOINONIA of Pennsylvania Jurisdiction. Evangelist Morris has been asignificant partner in the phenomenal growth of this church and the expansion of its more than 50 ministries that embrace a congregation of more than 4500 members that began as a storefront mission with 16 Sunday School children in 1966.

Mrs. Morris has been instrumental in identifying and securing streams of funding for the many social service outreach programs and ministries that serve the community including: a full service family shelter for 250 residents for 23 years, a Senior Daily Activity Program, After School Programs, sports teams, a Christian Day School, health initiatives, jobs training, full service youth ministries, and in her capacity as head of the Department of Women’s Ministries she spearheaded for 12 years the nationally impacting Women’s Vision to Victory and Unity Conferences held annually attracting national and international speakers and delegates for five days of renewal, empowerment and outpour to the thousands of delegates who attended.

Evangelist Morris is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and was an educator for some time in the Philadelphia Public School system before leaving to found, along with her husband, the Mt. Airy Christian Day School, now in its 35th year of providing excellent service to the community. Mrs. Morris is multi-talented and the scope of her interest embraces a wide range of church and civic activities including workshops, leadership training, Christian Education, program and capital development, grant writing and non-profit management and administration.

Mrs. Morris is a noted keynote and motivational speaker across the country speaking to religious, civic and educational organizations. She has been the recipient of many civic awards, citations and recognition for her contributions to the community. Even with her busy schedule and awesome demands on her life because of ministry, Mrs. Morris would have it known that she is devoted to her principal calling as the wife of Bishop Ernest Morris, Sr., the mother of four talented children: Tanya(Clifford), Carla(Samuel), Ernest Jr.(Yolanda), and Jennifer(Wayne); six accomplished grandchildren and one great-grandson. She considers it a blessing to serve God as she serves His people. To God Be The Glory.
